So as many of you know, I do a lot of video work for my kids’ school free of charge. I do this for several reasons, I feel good about doing it for them, get to practice some fun techniques (like stop motion parking lot demonstrations) and give back to the school that is doing such a great job with my kiddos. In addition I do a big project for a non-profit every couple years. This year was really special as I was highly motivated after last years’ POSH, a retreat for women filmmakers, to do something that REALLY speaks to me. It didn’t take long to figure out what I wanted to do. My daughter has participated in a group called Girls on the Run for two seasons and has loved every minute of it. I HAD to do a film for them. This organization has an amazing curriculum helping the girls develop a positive self image, strong values, and strong bodies. They train for a 5K race at the end of their 10 week session and learn some amazing life lessons and practice these new strengths on the way. So here is my “it”. Congratulations to all the Girls on the Run, and thank you to the girls, coaches and families at Roesland and Prairie Elementary for their time, effort, words and sweat. Lace up those shoes and I’ll see you on our next run!
