As we enter our 15th year of celebrating weddings with so many amazing couples in Kansas City it only seems right to look back a bit on some of our favorite venues and locations in this great city! We have asked a few of our friends to share a little bit about their venues and of course we needed to make some extra pretty films to go along with this project!
We are starting with the President Hotel in Downtown Kansas City. I thought about just editing some pretty shots of the President, but I just couldn’t do it without telling a little bit of the story of the sweet couple who celebrated their reception there. You will get to see Erin and her family and friends getting ready in the hotel, Erin and Tim having their first look on the Mezzanine as well a little peek at their ceremony at Redemptorist Catholic Church. Then we take you back to the President for the most lovely reception!
We asked Samie LaForce, Catering Sales Manager at the President, a few questions you might be interested in hearing about as you plan your wedding day. We love how Samie keeps things running smoothly and we always know the families and guests will be well taken care of on their wedding day!
Tell us a little bit about the Hotel President and where you are in Kansas City.
The President Hotel is a wedding venue with a bit of history in Kansas City, Missouri, we are a National Historic Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places, located in the Power and Light District of Kansas City’s downtown, and just steps away from the Kansas City Convention Center. The bride and groom and their guests will feel like they have gone back in time with this 1920s inspired interior. This hotel accommodates weddings and receptions up to 300 guests. I have personally been here for just about 5 years.
What do your brides and grooms love about your venue?
Brides love that we are all inclusive. We handle so many of the details so that they can enjoy the planning process and the weekend that they are here with their families. I also believe it makes it much easier to be in a hotel because all of the personal items for the family, bride and groom and bridal party are right here. There is no need to load up cars at the end of the night. We assure that everything is delivered including all decor and gifts so that everyone can just enjoy the party. Number one though would have to be the ballroom of course. It is almost magical. Even being up there almost every weekend, it still takes my breath away when I walk in. There is something about the antique marble floors and the beautiful chandeliers that make you just feel romantic.
What makes your venue unique?
That it has been fully restored to it’s original 1920’s grandeur. The Italian Terrazzo marble floors are exactly as they were in 1926 and the integrity of the rest of the hotel is always kept in the forefront during any renovation. It’s handcrafted gold crown molding and vaulted ceilings are really unmatched venue wise here in the city.
How does the service and experience that your clients have at your venue make it amazing?
We take food and beverage service very seriously here. We hold ourselves to an extremely high standard always but especially with our special events team. The quality of service and product that we deliver is complimented constantly and we take a lot of pride in what we do. For me personally, this planning experience with the couple and their family is a once in a lifetime experience. It is very personal and very detailed. They are depending on myself and our event staff to make sure everything is executed exactly as they’ve dreamed.
