Haircuts for the Homeless – City Union Mission, Kansas City, Missouri

Feb 2

When I saw a post on Facebook from my super talented photographer friend Jenny Wheat about organizing a day of haircuts for a local homeless shelter I volunteered immediately to help tell this story with a little film. What an amazing turn out of volunteers (100), hairdressers and barbers, donations and thankful gentlemen we had on this wonderful Sunday in February. The Webster House donated a wonderful lunch for the men, Roasterie had hot coffee and Beauty Brands supplied product as well as individual donations made by volunteers of toiletries, sheets, towels, underwear and socks.

But I think the thing that impacted me the most was seeing the gratitude of the folks coming in for a little bit of care and great haircuts and beard trims. There was a joy to that room in City Union Mission that was easy to feel and so exciting to be a part of. I loved watching the stylists interacting with these men and bringing a little bit of comfort and care to them. I don’t think anyone who attended this event left without a smile on their face and a bit of joy in their hearts. In all, 165 lucky folks got to have their hair cut and a little bit of attention paid to them on this amazing day.

Thank you to all the volunteers and Jenny for making this happen!

Lauren and Sam – Kansas City Wedding Videography – Highlight Wedding Video

Nov 15

It is amazing to me how beautifully a couples story can come together with the words that the people who love them the most. And it makes my heart happy when families have the insight to capture those words so we can make something beautiful that will last forever for a new family. This was an amazing day, and I LOVE when a sweet groom toasts to his new bride at the reception. There is really nothing more special than to honor her like that. Sam’s words were so sweet to Lauren as they started their new life together. Congratulations Lauren and Sam!

Kassie and Jeff – Kansas City Wedding Video – Highlight Film

Nov 6

This wedding was as much of a gift to me as it was to Kassie and Jeff. They are the very first recipients of our wedding film giveaway and I couldn’t think of a sweeter couple to get to work with. It gives us so much joy to be able to give and share our art and this wedding was just so sweet and simple and lovely. They had a morning ceremony at the Loose Garden in Loose Park before it got too terribly hot and a fantastic brunch at the Loose Mansion in Kansas City. Stuffed french toast, biscuits and gravy and pie – ALL of my favorites! Kassie and Jeff – we are so happy we got to spend this special day with you!

Holiday Film Mini-Sessions!

As my kids get older I have the overwhelming regret that I didn’t record more video of them. Yes, this is what I do, but I don’t feel like I captured enough of these little stories before my little ones grew up. There is something about capturing the interaction and little moments between a young family that is just magical, and those voices! Doesn’t get any sweeter. This season we are offering a few spots for special mini-film sessions at a local Christmas tree farm. Take a peek at this adorable film and shoot me an email to reserve your time on November 14! They will go fast!
