I have been holding on to this one a while – mostly because the event happened during one of my busiest fall seasons EVER! There is a bit of a back story, so forgive me. Over a year ago, my daughter received a letter from her cousins who live on the East Coast, who sadly we don’t ever get to see or play with just due to distance and time. She was so excited to get mail, especially something from what felt a little like a “long lost cousin”! 🙂 Willow and Rosalie were inviting her to put together an Almost Sleepover Community Service event for an organization they started the year before. Lily gathered up a few of her good buddies and began planning their own local event. The idea behind the United States of Community Service group is that KIDS can make a difference. These kids worked so hard to spread their word so that there would be simultaneous “giving parties” in every state of the USA on Make a Difference Day. We had a great turn out of girls attend the Kansas City “almost sleepover” and collected new PJ’s for Moms and kids for a local shelter, made cuddly pillows for kids coming to the shelter, ornaments for Meals on Wheel’s participants, and wrote letters to soldiers abroad for the holidays. It was a great experience for all the girls involved and we really had a great time!
Here is a little peek into our event!
